In addition to being an advanced neurosurgery center with on site MRI and CT, we also provide state of the art diagnostics.
Spinal Fluid Analysis
Spinal Fluid Analysis can be a critical part of a patient's evaluation even when diagnostics such as MRI & CT are used. This dog's CT scan showed 2 mild disc protrusions in the neck. Had the spinal fluid analysis not been performed, it would have been assumed that the severe neck pain in this dog was due these slipped discs. The spinal fluid analysis showed granulomatous meningoenceph-alomyelitis as a cause for the pain in this patient and the dog was managed medically.
CT Guided Biopsies
When possible, CT imaging can be used to guide the neurologist in obtaining biopsies of suspected cancers in the vertebral bodies of patients. This can alleviate the need for more invasive surgery to obtain a diagnosis.
Brainsteam Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) testing is the standard and most reliable form of hearing testing in animals. Appointments can be made to have one animal tested or a litter of puppies.
